Cole provides a verdict on the dilemma of Southgate’s England left back

Fomer England left-back Ashley Cole believes Luke Shaw is “within the lead” over Ben Chilwell when he returns to the European Championship this summer season.

Cole’s views have been shared by fellow pundit Roy Keane, who believes Shaw has “the sting” over different backs within the squad.

“This year has been fantastic,” said Keane. “I do know he had problems beneath [Jose] Mourinho, clearly, however has been constant this year.

“Going forward however defensively I feel he has the sting over the opposite backs within the England squad.
