New York City FC reportedly set to sign young Ecuadorian winger Joao Rojas from CS Emelec


After a comparatively quiet offseason on the switch market, New York City FC are reportedly set to make some noise with the addition of Ecuadorian winger Joao Rojas.

NYCFC, whose greatest strikes within the offseason have been out outbound with the departures of midfielder Alex Ring to Austin FC, left back Ronald Matarrita to FC Cincinnati — buying almost $2 million in allocation cash from each trades — and winger Gary Mackay-Steven returning to Scotland, signing with Hearts, are signing Rojas from Ecuador’s Club Sport Emelec, in accordance with journalist Reinaldo Romero.

The 23-year-old Rojas was linked to an unnamed MLS team back in December, with further offers reportedly coming from Spain and Mexico.
