San Jose Earthquakes re-sign goalkeeper Matt Bersano

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Re-signed

The San Jose Earthquakes have re-signed goalkeeper Matt Bersano, the membership introduced Tuesday. Bersano was out of contract after the 2020 season.

Bersano, 28, has but to seem in an MLS match for San Jose over 4 seasons with the membership. He has made 57 appearances with USL Championship side Reno 1868.

He played youth soccer at Real Salt Lake Arizona academy then played collegiately at Oregon State (2011-14) and Penn State (2015).

Bersano is more likely to slot in because the membership’s No. 3 goalkeeping possibility, behind JT Marcinkowski and Daniel Vega. Marcinkowski replaced Vega because the starter down the stretch in 2020.
