Slovak Gergely Geri is no longer the coach of Hungarian football players Diósgyőr. The club’s management removed him from office only a month after he took the helm. The official website of the club informed about it.
On Wednesday, there was a change in the ownership structures of DVTK Diósgyőr and this change also brought a change on the bench of the A-team.
“In Geri’s person, we found a very well-prepared expert and met a nice person. I can wish him only the best for the future. I am sure that we will hear a lot more about him and our paths are still crossing, ”said Miklós Benczés, the club’s sports director, after Geri’s dismissal.
The new coach of Diósgyőr is 46-year-old Croatian Zoran Zekič, who worked in Osijek for many years and most recently coached the Moldovan Sheriff Tiraspol.
Forty-three-year-old Geri was appointed DVTK coach on December 8, leading the team in three league matches. Untraditionally, the winter training in Diósgyőr began almost on December 28.
