TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Re-signed
Toronto FC have re-signed defenders Justin Morrow and Eriq Zavaleta, the membership introduced Tuesday. The pair had been out of contract after last year.
Morrow, 33, returns for his eighth season with the membership and is signed by way of 2021. He has made 186 regular season appearances with Toronto and has made the second most all-time appearances in TFC history.
“Justin has been a fixture with TFC and it’s great to have him signed,” GM Ali Curtis said in a membership assertion. “His versatility on the field, veteran presence within the locker room and total management on and off the field have been critical for the membership for a protracted time and we’re thrilled that may continue.”
Morrow was an integral a part of TFC’s 2017 treble-winning team, lifting MLS Cup, the Canadian Championship and the Supporters’ Protect. He was initially acquired in a commerce with the San Jose Earthquakes in 2013, after making 72 appearances with the membership.
Zavaleta, 28, has spent the last six seasons in Toronto. He has made 104 MLS appearances with the membership, although made just 5 in 2020. He started his time in MLS with the Seattle Sounders then Chivas USA for a season every.
“Eriq is one other veteran who’s given loads to the membership,” said Curtis. “This can be a big year for Eriq. He involves the coaching ground day by day ready to work and is a great position mannequin as an all-around skilled for our young players.”
